This 4.5 hectare site in Coburg was originally used by Austrim Nylex for the manufacturing of plastic automotive components. Prior to the creation of a new public access road and subdivision into 36 industrial allotments, the site required extensive remediation of the contaminated soil and groundwater. The remediation process involved:

  • Removal and disposal of 30 underground storage tanks and associated product lines.
  • Removal of asbestos and demolition of approximately 5,000m2 of disused industrial buildings.
  • Excavation, remediation and reinstatement of over 40,000m3 of contaminated soil.
  • On site crushing and recycling of all concrete.
  • Facilitation and supervision of contaminated ground water with vacuum enhanced extraction technology.
  • Installation and commissioning of active skimming pumps
