Multiworks was engaged to deliver critical infrastructure upgrades along the Frankston to Stony Point Line, targeting seven large ARMCO culverts that support the single-track rail corridor across multiple waterway crossings. These culverts play a vital role in the safe operation of the line, managing stormwater flow beneath the rail alignment and ensuring long-term asset stability.

Project Description

Works were delivered at two key locations—Kings Creek (2 x 2400 mm diameter pipes) and Warringine Creek (4 x 3600 mm diameter pipes)—where corrosion and age had compromised the structural performance of the existing culverts.

To extend asset life and minimise future maintenance requirements, Multiworks applied a full internal shotcrete lining to each steel culvert, restoring structural integrity and enhancing long-term durability in high-moisture environments. In addition, apron slabs and revetment walls were constructed to protect against scour and erosion, improving hydraulic performance and overall resilience of the track formation.

Scope highlights:

  •  Internal shotcrete relining of seven large ARMCO culverts
  • Construction of apron slabs and revetment walls at both sites
  • Works delivered under live rail conditions with minimal disruption
  • Long-term structural and environmental risk mitigation
