Multiworks successfully delivered the enabling works package for the widening of Runway 16/34 at Melbourne Airport- critical early works ahead of a $20 million upgrade to accommodate the Airbus A380.

Project Description

Engaged by principal contractors John Holland Constructions and ATS McMahon, Multiworks carried out complex civil and services works in a highly sensitive and time-constrained airside environment.

Key scope of works included:

  • Extension and abandonment of approximately 30 duct banks containing 159 asbestos conduits
  • Internal sleeving of asbestos conduits with around 2,000 metres of new PVC conduit
  • Non-destructive excavation of live cables using high-pressure water jetting and vacuum extraction
