Multiworks was engaged by Brockman Engineering to deliver the civil works for the Minns Road 30ML Water Tank as part of the Greater Western Water Capital Works Program.
Project Description
The project, located in Melton West, involved the design and construction of a robust foundation system to support the new tank infrastructure.
The scope included:
- Bulk earthworks and subgrade remediation
- Construction of a crushed rock and asphalt base
- Installation of a concrete ring beam, poured in a single day using 104 cubic metres of concrete2
- Concrete encased pipes laid beneath the ring beam
- Sand-bitumen strip testing and compliance with DIN 18134-300 standards3
- Provision of a full-time surveyor and compaction testing
- Deployment of internal plant and equipment and a highly experienced crew4
The project faced challenges including deep excavations requiring earth shields, benching, and battering, as well as restricted site access. Despite these constraints, Multiworks successfully executed the works with high safety standards, earning commendation from the client for its HSE performance2.
The project was delivered under Subcontract Agreement# 4306-CIV-001, with Aqua Metro as the head contractor and Greater Western Water as the principal
