To maintain its FIM Grade A safety license, the iconic Phillip Island MotoGP Circuit required critical upgrades, including extended run-off areas in high-speed zones and installation of new safety infrastructure.

Project Description

Multiworks was engaged to deliver a comprehensive package of civil works, including extending the asphalt run-off and gravel traps, constructing a light vehicle access road, and completing several operational enhancements around the track.

With just two days between contract award and site commencement, and a strict six-week delivery window, time and precision were critical. Multiworks successfully completed both the original scope and additional variation works within the original timeframe—delivering the project with zero safety incidents.

Key scope of works included:

  • Extension of asphalt run-off and gravel traps
  • Construction of access roads, pedestrian walkways, and overflow carpark
  • 56,000m³ bulk earthworks and placement of:
  • 11,000t crushed rock
  • 7,000t gravel trap pebble
  • 370t asphalt

Installation of:

  • 1,200m concrete barriers with tyre walls
  • 400m triple rail guardrail
  • 140m racing debris fencing
  • 900m conduit and timing loop upgrades
  • Drainage improvements and groundwater rectification
Grandstand batter construction and relocation of CCTV and marshal hut
