Maribyrnong City Council engaged Multiworks to deliver Stage 2 of the Quarry Park Landfill Rehabilitation Project, a highly technical remediation package within a community-facing urban parkland. The project involved the capping and stabilisation of a disused landfill site, integrating engineered environmental controls with landscape enhancement to safely return the site to public use.
Project Description
Working within a constrained footprint and adjacent to high-use recreational zones, Multiworks undertook a full asbestos walkover and removal program, managed sediment and stormwater risks throughout winter delivery, and ensured zero contamination breaches or environmental incidents.
The scope required the import and placement of over 20,000m³ of subsoil and topsoil, establishment of complex surface drainage systems including reno mattress drains, bunds, and swales, and the construction of a Gross Pollutant Trap and diversion weir near a live gas transmission main. Multiworks’ team developed tailored staging and haulage strategies to maintain public access to park infrastructure while safely completing major civil works.
This project demonstrates Multiworks’ ability to deliver technically complex environmental remediation and capping works with a high level of planning, stakeholder management, and execution precision in public urban environments.
