The Sunbury Recycled Water Plant Upgrade was a pivotal infrastructure project aimed at enhancing water treatment capabilities and environmental resilience in the region. Delivered under Contract No. C0060, the scope encompassed a comprehensive suite of civil and structural works designed to support long-term operational efficiency and compliance.
Project Description
Key components of the project included major earthworks, in-ground and above-ground pipe installations, and the construction of structural foundations to support advanced water treatment equipment. A new blockwork control building was also constructed to house essential operational systems.
The project involved significant refurbishment of existing concrete tanks, including structural repairs and compliance upgrades. Temporary works were staged to ensure uninterrupted plant operations, with bypass systems implemented during construction phases. Site establishment included the setup of temporary facilities, site offices, and photographic documentation to support progress tracking and compliance.
Security and access protocols were rigorously managed, with phased operational controls and induction procedures for all personnel. The project team coordinated closely with Western Water and the local community, ensuring transparent communication and minimal disruption.
Environmental management was central to the delivery strategy, with EPA liaison and staging plans developed to mitigate impact. The scope also included optional enhancements such as roadworks, fencing upgrades, building painting, and replacement of handrails and walkways in decommissioned areas.
This upgrade reflects a commitment to sustainable infrastructure and operational excellence, aligning with regional growth and environmental stewardship goals.
