Multiworks was engaged to deliver critical civil infrastructure for the new 132kV switchyard at Tarrone Terminal Station, located adjacent to an existing 500kV yard in south-western Victoria. The project involved a combination of greenfield and brownfield works, with a significant portion of activity carried out within a live substation environment.

Project Description

Working closely with Consolidated Power Projects (CPP), Multiworks coordinated access and secured critical outages to complete works safely and to program. Our scope included both structural and enabling works designed to support the long-term operation and reliability of the expanded terminal station.

Key works delivered by Multiworks included:

  • Construction of a new bench platform for the 132kV yard
  • Installation of a structural transformer slab, including firewalls, handrails, staircases, rock ballast, and GRP (FRP) access platforms
  • Over 100 structural pile foundations across both the new 132kV yard and existing 500kV switchyard
  • Installation of more than 100 metres of cable trench culverts
  • Earthworks and drainage infrastructure, including swales and runoff control
  • Installation of septic systems and a 2,500L SPEL Puraceptor tank
  •  Reinforcement and upgrade of the site access track to accommodate a 55-metre, 16-axle prime mover for transformer delivery
  • Extension of the existing electrical safety fence
  • Removal of clean fill and completion of new yard works

Despite the challenges of working in close proximity to live assets, Multiworks maintained strict safety protocols and delivered the project to schedule, contributing to the successful upgrade of a key asset within Victoria’s transmission network.
