As part of the Federal Government’s initiative to strengthen Australia’s diesel storage capacity, Viva Energy launched the Strategic Storage Project—delivering four new tanks capable of holding 90 million litres of diesel. Multiworks was engaged by Brockman Engineering, the mechanical and tank builder, to deliver all associated civil works.

Project Description

Operating within a high-pressure environment and a tight timeline to meet subsidy deadlines, Multiworks successfully delivered a broad and complex civil scope, including:

  • Over 1km of in-situ concrete bund walls, exceeding 4 metres in height
  • Major bulk earthworks across a 62,500m² bunded area
  •  Remediation and disposal of significant volumes of contaminated soil
  • Construction of tank foundations
  • Installation of footings, pits, and drainage infrastructure
  • Roads, paving, and access ramps
  • Bund sumps and external roadworks within the Greenfield development area

The project posed significant engineering and logistical challenges, with strict deadlines and evolving scope—particularly regarding soil remediation. Despite this, Multiworks accelerated delivery by over two months, ensuring successful completion ahead of schedule and in line with government funding requirements.
