This historic project comes about as Ford Australia sells its manufacturing plants, bringing to a close more than half a century of Australian motoring history and local car production. The project scope included civil, structural, mechanical, commissioning and HV electrical works required for the separation of common building utilities for the subdivisions of the sites.

Multiworks was originally engaged through ECI to provide input into the design constructability, methodology, staging and scheduling of the proposed subdivision projects at Geelong and Broadmeadows. After a formal RFQ Multiworks was eventually engaged as Principal Contractor, responsible for managing and coordinating the entire scope and the site of up-to 120 people.

At Geelong, the new services to be constructed within the existing manufacturing site include domestic water, sewer, fire services and stormwater buried up-to 6 meters deep.

Work onsite was consistently challenged by subsurface conditions as contaminated and erodible soil was spread throughout the site. As principal contractor Multiworks both managed and self performed the remedial works ensuring the safety of those onsite and the environment was not placed at risk.
